Teeth Whitening Products

Do you want to get your teeth whitened without the need – and cost – of dentist sessions?  Then teeth whitening products are for you.  The available teeth whitening product types include toothpastes, gels, strips and trays; each of one bringing their own advantages and effectiveness.

All these products – although don’t bring the same results as professional teeth whitening – work to some extent.  And if used consistently can produce more lasting results than going to the dentist.

It is good to note that studies of how well these teeth whitening products work, are most of the time biased, and don’t take much into account the initial state of the patient’s teeth.  In general patients with darker teeth have better success than patients with whiter teeth.

Teeth whitening gels.  These are clear, peroxide-based gels that you apply directly with the help of an applicator or a brush, thus controlling the amount of product you use.  Most of these gels need to be applied twice a day for a period of time, you can read more about them on our teeth whitening gels section.

Teeth whitening toothpastes.  These toothpastes work by removing the stains on the surface thanks to soft abrasives in its composition although you can find extra ingredients to add more power to the formulas.  These toothpastes only remove stains that are on the surface of the teeth because they don’t contain bleach.

Teeth whitening strips.  These are adhesives that tick to your teeth and are coated with peroxide-based gel.  Unlike other product these don’t show big improvements unless applied continually, this is due to the poor amount of gel the strips have.

Tray-based teeth whitening. These are considered a more traditional approach to whiten your teeth.  Using tray-based teeth whitening products involve filling a tray that looks like a mouth guard with a whitening solution.
